The Rainbow Crow is a Lenape Legend about how the crow got his iridescence. Long ago when the world was cold, crows had rainbow feathers and voices like angels. When the world began to freeze over, a brave crow flew up to the heavens and brought fire to the world. But in the process, he singed his rainbow feathers and lost his voice to the smoke. For his sacrifice, he was given iridescence and was forever acknowledged as a savior. The illustrations are multi-media with watercolor backgrounds, pen and ink for the characters and scratchboard for the main character, Rainbow Crow. The stark contrast in mediums draws attention to Rainbow Crow as the most important character.
